Underwire Bras

An underwire bra is one of the most common bras you will find in a woman's wardrobe. By offering more lift and more support for your bust line, underwire bras are a popular choice among women with larger breasts or who simply like the feeling of more support. But there are some concerns in dealing with underwire bras that you will want to factor into your decision.

There is some scientific proof that there may be a connection between underwire bras and cancer. Research is suggesting that the metal in the wires can conduct electricity and other electromagnetic waves, causing those waves to be directed into the breast tissue where the DNA can then be rearranged. These studies are not conclusive at the present time, but it's certainly something that you might want to remember when you are choosing new bras for your wardrobe.

So, how does an underwire bra work? By placing a wire at the base of the breasts, the bra separates the two breasts as well as lifts them up and off the abdomen. This creates a more youthful look. And while the wire should also remain in the same place, creating an even look, there are some times when the wire doesn't always do what it's supposed to. At some point or another, a woman has said that, "My underwire hurts." This is usually because the wire itself has begun to tear through the bra material or because the wire may have become bent. In other cases, the bra may not be a good fit for the women, causing the discomfort.

To prevent these painful situations, you should consider learning to protect underwire bras in the wash. You can do this by packing them in a separate lingerie bag or in a netted bag that will keep the wires from catching on anything else. To repair underwire bras, you may be able to slide the wire back into place, sewing it in when you're done. But in other cases, you might just need to replace the underwire bra entirely.

You have many choices in underwire bras too. Some are found already in clothing to add support without necessitating a separate bra – as in a camisole with a built in underwire bra. But you can also find such brands as a Warners underwire sports bra or a Grace underwire full coverage bra. With a Warnres underwire sports bra, you will be able to get a lot of support, but also look good at the same time.
