Throughout bra history there are photos of women with humanly impossibly small waists, which can be a very unhealthy standard to try to emulate. But in the history of the bra, a corset that is properly sized to the individual body can provide great posture because of the intense back support. A larger chested woman can make back pain history wearing a corset rather than the shoulder straining straps of the regular bra.

Additionally, the history of the brassiere has proven that a woman can mold her body by using a corset. The corset can give a more proportioned, slimmer appearance to the body. It is like being on a diet without the actual diet.

The body can even be trained to have actual weight loss around the waist naturally by using a corset and gradually tightening it. There is debate about whether this is a healthy method of body reshaping, but if properly executed by a person who is not being overzealous, an appropriate sized corset can be effective and safe.

History of bra did not have the corset visible from underneath the clothing, but in recent history of bras the corset has been worn on the outside the clothing or alone as a top. It is a very daring look, but stylish when done right. The bra history did not allow for it, but now in modern times the corset can even be worn tastefully as a professional look with a jacket and skirt or pant. The corset has gained a bad reputation over the years, but when used responsibly and tastefully, a corset can be a benefit to a woman's style as well as to her overall body shape.
