BSE is a question every doctor asks of a woman coming in for her physical. When a woman is pregnant is another time when BSE should be done, as breast cancer does not take a vacation during this time—the only difference is that clinical breast exams be done every month by a medical professional, before they go through any major physiologic changes. The reason for this is when the breasts become enlarged and more nodular during the later stages of pregnancy, the lumps or any serious negative changes will be harder to detect. The time when the BSE is applied should be the same time every month prior to becoming pregnant.
