Healthy food needs to be a way of living, like putting the right type of gas in a car—try putting diesel in a car or regular gas in a diesel pick-up, and what happens? The same thing will happen when we refuse to eat healthy foods, but instead consume foods high in fat content, high sugar levels, or high cholesterol content. We become ill and out of balance, with low energy levels and weight gain. Most people have a food list they purchase at the grocery store, but not a healthy food list. Unfortunately, most healthy foods are higher priced than unhealthy ones—it is a lot cheaper to purchase a box of macaroni & cheese with a package of hot dogs, than purchase a tossed salad and grilled chicken breast for a large family on a limited budget.

The healthy food pyramid has been changed over the years, but a person can still follow it allowing for a varied food source for different things, so a meal doesn’t have to be the same old thing all the time. Cooking at home used to be the only way a person could eat healthy, unless one ate at a very expensive restaurant. But anymore the fast foods healthy menu is beginning to be a routine thing at fast foods, with salads with grilled chicken, yogurt, or low-fat foods.

The latest scuttle online and on television talk is showing how obese children are, and how fast foods are not good for them. But lately the fast foods have changed their menu somewhat to offer healthy choices--healthy fast food is available now for eating out with healthy foods offered instead of bad foods. If making healthy food recipes at home, shopping at stores can be done with the children assisting, allowing the kids to help make the meals when at home. Each food can be “rediscovered” and while it is being prepared and cooked, explained why it is healthy for them.

Healthy food choices are a habit, and healthy food for children and healthy food snacks are not only habits to form for their health, but also to see the results as they grow up. Making a list of healthy foods to eat before shopping or eating out is wise; because when we eat healthy fast food we are improving our health.
